About this course:

Our programme focuses on primary care and community nursing, giving you the skills to provide exceptional care in a range of settings to support the needs of people in the community. Topics include: - How the human body works - How to help people stay healthy - How to treat and support people with long-term and acute illnesses - Learning to develop a holistic approach to assessing and supporting both physical and mental wellbeing of others


Skills:

Throughout the course, you will gain practical skills and experience through a range of clinical placements, such as: - Community nursing (district nurses) - Primary care (general practice nurses) - Public health nursing (health visitors) - Care homes - Hospices - Rehabilitation centres - Acute hospitals You will also spend a significant amount of time learning in our Clinical Simulation Centre (CSC) which offers realistic community and in-hospital settings. Here you will safely practice clinical skills with other students, service users, carers, role players and hi-tech patient simulators under the guidance of experienced clinical and academic staff.


Career opportunities:

Our BSc Adult Nursing offers a strong foundation for your future nursing career. You will be able to work in a wide variety of roles in community nursing teams, GP surgeries, care homes, hospices, rehabilitation centres, hospitals and more. Our aspiration is to educate nurses who will be highly sought after by employers, and for Roehampton nurses to become future leaders of the profession. You will learn about nursing as a profession and its central role within modern health and care services. You will also learn about the shift towards integrated care in the community as part of the NHS Long Term Plan (https://www.longtermplan.nhs.uk/).
